Overview
The law impacts on all business activity. Whether dealing with customers, suppliers or employees, or protecting the physical and intellectual assets of your business, it is essential that business people have some knowledge of the appropriate legal issues. An understanding of commercial law and its operation will aid both those who make business decisions and those who advise others on business decisions.
Commercial Law is designed to equip students with a thorough grounding of the fundamental principles of commercial law. Students will be introduced to the fundamental commercial law issues that commonly arise in legal practice and the key aspects of substantive commercial law.
Learning outcomes
After successfully completing this course you should be able to:

l Analyze and interpret case law and statute law relevant to commercial law.

Teaching method
Weekly lectures and tutorial sessions: lectures will deliver the basic principles and practices or case analysis in classes. The lecture materials will be the course books supported by material from websites. Students will be encouraged to make use of electronic sources as well as traditional legal materials and learn independently. Tutorials will concentrate on the development of written communication skills and the use of statute and case law for problem solving.
